The Heart of Healing: Cultivating Therapeutic Connection equips social workers and other psychotherapists with the skills to build and sustain strong therapeutic relationships. Participants will explore the foundations of effective engagement, including rapport-building, genuineness, respect, and professionalism, while maintaining clear ethical boundaries. The course offers practical strategies for working with guarded or reluctant clients, utilizing casual conversation and finding common ground to build rapport, and navigating self-disclosure in alignment with therapeutic goals. Through interactive discussions, role-plays, and self-reflection, participants will enhance their ability to create safe, affirming spaces, address personal biases, and ensure unresolved personal experiences do not impede clinical effectiveness.
